Bio

Coach Kim Eagens comes to the sport of triathlon with an extensive athletic background. She is a former two-time, All-Section softball first baseman and All-American cheerleader, as well as an NCAA Division 1 collegiate volleyball player who began running to stay in shape back in 2000.  Kim’s passion for triathlon was discovered when she suffered from a fractured femur in 2008 that sent her to the pool to learn how to swim competitively.  Within 9 months, Kim had completed her first sprint triathlon, her first 70.3, and her first Ironman placing 10th in her age group!  She has now competed in numerous half and full iron distance races, as well as too many shorter distance races to count.

Coach Kim’s career highlights include a 4th place age group finish at Itonman Chattanooga, qualifying for and completing the Boston Marathon, a 4th overall female finish at Rev3 Knoxville 70.3 and 4th overall finish at Beach2Battleship 140.6.  Kim seems to like 4th!  Kim’s triathlon strength is her cycling and she also enjoys competing in bike races and practicing vinyasa yoga when she’s not multisport racing.

Kim is a certified USAT Level 1 Coach, an ASCA Level 1 Coach and a USA Cycling Level 3 Certified Coach. Her coaching philosophy is hands-on.  She prides herself on constant, open, consistent communication with her athletes.  Kim uses her extensive race and training experience as a foundation to customize a training program specific to each athlete.  Kim also offers one-on-one and small group swim, cycling and track sessions.

Kim was born and raised in Westchester County, NY and currently resides in Charlotte, NC.  In addition to coaching, Kim has worked in commercial real estate since 2005.  Kim has two dogs, Justice and Foster, and a cat Sonja, as well as an amazing family and friends that support her in all of her crazy endeavors!
